This is on an old piece of notepaper. It has a very old straight pin in the top. Pin appears to be some kind
of steel and is larger than our straight pins of today. It is apx. 1 1/4 inches long.
The following penciled note is on the paper:
 

     This pin is as old as the church house at the graveyard.
     Pa had the contract & pinned it with this pin and gave it to me today when he burnt the contract.
      This August 18, 1901 at 2 oclock.

I do not know for sure which church this refers to but I do know that Gertie and her family were members
of the Elk Prairie Christian Church of Jefferson Co. all their life and that Gertie's dad is said to have been a
deacon of that church.
