ten years.
Mr. Allen was nearly always referred to as "Uncle Hibe" and was one of the county's oldest and
most respected citizens. He was born in this county a few miles from the place where he passed
away.
For ten years he had been a sufferer from attacks of asthma and this ailment had caused him much

able productions.

honored and revered. He was a type of real Christian, and he died in the faith that he would go to a
better and brighter home.
For three years Mr. Allen was in the Civil War a member of the 110th Illinois and in his solider

life.
