Daisy M. Hayes
Dies at Age 78 
Rites Tomorrow

Mrs. Daisy M. Hayes, of RFD 5, Mt. Vernon, died at 7:50 pm at the Hester Nursing Home 
in  Ina, after an illness of several months and 20 days of age.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm at the Hopewell Methodist church. 
The Rev. Roy Beal will officiate and burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.

The body will remain at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, where friends may call.

Mrs. Hayes was born August 26, 1876 in Jefferson county, the daughter of 
Herbert and Rhoda (Schrest) Haley.

She was married to Thomas C. Hayes, who preceded her in death July 25, 1951.

Mrs. Hayes had been a member of the Hopewell Methodist church since girlhood.

She is survived by two sons, Fred of Mt. Vernon and Carrill of Benton; three 
daughters, Mrs. Ora Connaway of McLeansboro, Mrs. Maude Allen of Mt. Vernon and 
Mrs. Georgia Schwartz of Chicago; 16 grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren; 
two brothers, Charlie and William Haley of Mt. Vernon; and one sister, 
Mrs. Julia Black of Mt. Vernon.

Two daughters preceded her in death.
