GENEVA E. LISENBY Born: Nov. 30, 1918; in Jefferson County Died: Sept. 4, 2006; in Woodstock She volunteered at the Woodstock Food Pantry
WOODSTOCK - Geneva E. Lisenby, 87, of Woodstock, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at her home. She was born Nov. 30, 1918, in Jefferson County, to George and Ethel (Jones) Nichols. She married George E. Lisenby on Dec. 2, 1936, in Jefferson County. She and her husband moved to Woodstock in the 1940s. She worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell in the Woodstock office form 1948 to 1979. She also worked at Woodstock Hospital as a dietary aide from 1980 to 1985. She volunteered at both the Woodstock Food Pantry and Woodstock Memorial Hospital. She was of strong Christian faith and testified to all she met about eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie L. (Dale) Rover of Troy, Mo., and Lori L. (Ronald) Leonard of Lake Geneva, Wis.; five grandchildren, Jennifer L. (Patrick) Hunt of Bellflower, Mo., Nathan J. Rover of Troy, Jason D. (Aimee) Leonard of Lake Geneva, Amanda L. Leonard of Lake Geneva and Emily A. Leonard of Lake Geneva; three great-grandchildren, Josiah S., Benjamin P. and Samuel I. Hunt, all of Bellflower; a sister, Mary Ann (C. Eugene) Deem of Melbourne, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the funeral home. The Rev. Steve McCoy of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock. For information, call the funeral home at (815) 338-1710.
