John Henry Meadows

John Henry Meadows, 62, of Mt. Vernon died at 11:52 a.m. Thursday Feb.
10, 2005, at Mt. Vernon Care Center.

He was born on April 15, 1942, in Jefferson County, son of John William
and Ethel M.(Carpenter) Meadows.  He married Sheridan "Sherry" A.
Wilfong on Dec. 15, 1961, in Jefferson County, and she survives in Mt.
Vernon.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Meadows is survived by a daughter, Angie
Morgan and husband Kelly of Mt. Vernon; five sisters, Shirley "Mick"
Anderson and husband Mike of Memphis, Tenn., Ida Reeves, Vera Hayes and
husband Rick and Betty Southerd and husband Gale, all of Mt. Vernon, and
Sharion Johnson and husband Jerry of Woodlawn; two grandchildren, Jacob
Morgan of Carbondale and Nathan Morgan of Angola, Ind.; a sister-in-law
and a brother in-law, Carolyn and Jim McKee of Jeffersonville, Ind.;
and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters.

Mr. Meadows first worked for Inland Steel/Consolidated Coal Co. and
then worked in the maintenance department at Mt. Vernon School District 80
until his retirement due to failing health.  He was a member of Central
Christian Church, Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge 31 AF & AM and Mt. Vernon
Elks Lodge 819.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Central Christian Church in
Mt. Vernon with Randy Sells, the Rev. Dan Lovin and Mike Sheets
officiating.  Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Church.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and will be
accepted by Hughey Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
