Mrs. Iva Merriman
Dies Here; Leaves -123 Descendants
 
Mrs. Iva Merriman, 87, of  Mt. Vernon, died at 11 :30 a.m. Thursday at the 
Jeffersonian Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon.
Mrs. Merriman leaves 123 descendants.
Funeral services will held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Ina Funeral Home, 
with the Rev. Guy Packett officiating.
Burial will be in the South Hickory Hill cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Saturday.
Born in Illinois on Aug. 2, 1886, she was the daughter of Frank and Nebraska (Hutchison) Wells.
Mrs. Merriman was married to Matthew L. Merriman, who died in 1949.
She was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist church.
Mrs. Merriman is survived by three sons, Orval of Bonnie, Wayne of St. Louis, Mo., and Lester of Peoria;
eight daughters, Mrs. Vaneeta Allen and Mrs. Freeda Allen, both of Bonnie, Mrs. Josephine Boger and
Mrs. Maxine Glisson, both of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Grace Rozelle, Eljabean, Fla., Mrs. Alene Williams, Ina,
Mrs. Mary Francis Shelton, Peoria, and Mrs. Helen Dobbs, Bluford; 32 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren;
nine great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, James F. Wells, Bonnie, Aven Wells, Waltonville, and Oval Wells,
Gallup, N.M., and three sisters, Mrs. Louisa Brown, Mrs. Mina Williamson, and Mrs. Dorothy Odle, all of Mt. Vernon.
