David
Winfree Myers
D.W. Myers, 87, of Dix died 7:50
a.m. Nov. 19, 2003, at his home.
He graduated from Mt. Vernon Township
High School and Hohenschuch-Carpenter
Mortuary School in St. Louis. He was employed at Osborn Funeral Home
in Dix as
a mortician for more than 60 years.
He was the secretary-treasurer for the Dix-Kell Water and Sewer commission
for 30 years.
He also reported weather conditions to the National Weather Service for
20 years.
Mr. Myers was born Aug. 10, 1916,
in Texico to Hardy and Mona Mae (Leuty) Myers.
He married Helen Mae (Ferguson) Myers; she survives.
Funeral services will be held 11
a.m. Saturday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, Arnold Peterson
will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Myers is survived by his wife,
Helen Myers of Dix; a daughter, Susan Lynn Johnson and
husband James of Mt. Vernon; a grandson, Isaac Hester; a granddaughter,
Miriam Hester; a sister,
Awilda Davis of Dix; and two nephews, Hal Davis of Davenport, Iowa,and
Brad Davis of Trenton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, an infant son; a brother, Devine Myers; and a sister
Susie Bell Douglas.
Mr. Myers was a master mason and
had been a member of Rome Lodge 721 A.F. & A.M. for
more than 56 years. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic, stationed
in London, England during W
orld War II. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a loving
husband, father and grandfather.
Memorials may be made to the Pleasant
Hill Baptist Church Family Life Center and will be received
at the funeral home at any time.
