John Phelps of McClellan Twp Dies at age 77
 

John Phelps, a McClellan township farmer, died at 5:35 a.m. Thursday at 
Good Samaritian Hopsital.

He was 77 years, 8 months and 10 days of age

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:p.m. at the Pulley Funeral 
Chapel. The Rev. Ed Shannon and the Rev. James Drysdale will officiate 
tand burial will follow in Wolf Priarie cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Pulley Funeral Home, where friends 
may call at any time.

Mr. Phelps was born April 15, 1881 in McClellan Townhship, the son of 
William and Margaret (Cheek) Phelps.

He was married to Belle Hayes, who survives.

Mr. Phelps was a member of the Marco Pentecostal Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Alva of Mount Vernon; four 
daughters, Inez Harris, Leilia Rightnowar, Edith Ford and Helen Smith, 
all of Mount Vernon; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; two 
brothers, Hall of Mount Vernon and Renzo of Centralia; and a sister Dine 
Shook of Centralia.

His parents, three brothers, and three sisters preceded him in death.
