Roy R. Piercy Sr.

Roy R. Piercy Sr., 79, of Benton died 9:22 pm, Sept. 5, 2001, at
Franklin Hosptial in Benton. He worked for Terminix for several years. Mr.
Piercy was born May 13, 1922, in Irvington to Nathan and Polly(Cook)
Piercy. Funeral services will be held 2 pm. Saturday at Morton & Johnston
Funeral Home in Benton. Pastor Rod Joplin will officiate. Burial with
military rites by the Benton American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars
posts will be in the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Friends
may call from 6 to 8 pm today at Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in
Benton. Mr. Piercy is survived by his wife, Margaret (Absher) Piercy; two
daughters, Roverta (Piercy) Barnfield and husband Gene of Benton and Pam
(Piercy) Barwick and husband John of Marion; five sons, Roy R. Piercy
Jr. and wife Sharon of Sikeston, MO. Randy Piercy and wife Margaret of
Pollar, GA., Dennis Piercy and wife Diane of Lake of Egypt, Leslie
Piercy and wife Barbara of Johnston City, and Gary Piercy and wife Diana of
Benton; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one sister,
Millie Runells of Mattoon. Mr. Piercy was an Army Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; for sisters, Celbra Utzler,
Dorothy Redman, Annabelle Black and Helen Robinett; one brother, Elmer
Piercy; and one great-grandson. For information, you may call the funeral
