Bessie Lee McLaughlin Brooks-Wakefield

BESSIE WAKEFIELD LOMPOC, CALIFORNIA;  Funeral services were held
at 11 a.m. February 14, 1972 for Bessie Lee Wakefield, at the McPeek
Family Mortuary Chapel, Lompoc, CA.  She died February 10 in Santa
Barbara, CA., following an extended illness.  Buriel was in Arroyo Grande
cemetery, Arroyo Grande, CA.  Mrs. Wakefield was born in Mt Vernon
February 1, 1885, the daughter of Hiram and Elizabeth Ames McLaughlin.  
She had resided in Lompoc for the past 68 years.  Her home address was 517
North D Street.  She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for 50 years and
the Companions of the Forest for 48 years.  Survivors include her
husband Claude; a son, Ernest Hiram Brooks of Santa Barbara; four daughters,
Mrs. Laura Genardini and Mrs. Ide Mae Fisher, both of Goleta, CA.,
Mrs. Evelyn Bernice Hughes of Orcutt, CA. and Mrs. Irene Elizabeth Nunes
of Idaho Falls, Idaho, 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Officiating at the sevice was Rev. Kenneth Boyd of the First Presbyterian
church.
