Ronald Barr has this story to tell us about those "Stairs"

When we went back and forth to the old school at the top of the hill, both morning and night, I found an "efficient" way to get back down to our house. The stairs are divided into units of about a dozen steps with landings between. I would get up on the metal railing, sidesaddle, and slide down a flight of stairs. My momentum would impel me across the landing and on down the next flight of steps. So, from top to bottom, I would not touch my feet on anything solid till I got to the bottom. As you can see in the picture, there is quite a clift to worry about. (Who, ME worry?!) And of course at the end of the day, I would also be carrying an armful of books! Now, I wonder if, over the years, any other young folks did that same rather foolish thing??

Ron didn't mention to us if he ever figured out a magic way to get "up" those stairs every morning. Imagine them being covered with snow ...
Ron is the son of the Methodist Minister and lived there for several years.
