The Bevard Family

The Bevard family arrived in Rice TWP, Jo Daviess County, IL from Peachbottom, York County PA via Kendall, Lafayette County WI., in 1855.

James and Mary E. Bevard had eight (8) children:

1. William Henry Bevard, born 6 June 1834 Peachbottom,York,PA, married Ann Eliza Moss, of Galena, IL on 15 November 1860.

He was forced into IL. 96th Co I in August 1862 and died August 6, 1864, a tragic death. His military pension file gave all the details and a letter written by Surgeon General of US Hospital # 6 New Albany, Indiana. He Left behind two infants, Mary Malvena Bevard born December 1861 and William Henry Bevard, Jr. born April 1863. After the death of Wm. Henry Bevard, his widow Ann Eliza married Allen Ward on 20 October 1866 in Galena. They moved immediately to Boone County IA and by 1872 had again relocated to Kansas after which they were eventually divorced.

3. Louiza Bevard married Charles Jewell

4. Eliza Bevard b 1840 married James Rodden died 1870 in Elizabeth, IL.

5. James Bevard born 1844 PA.,listed Lincon Plymouth County Iowa 1880 census.

6. John Bevard b 1846 Kendall, Lafayette Co. Wisconsin.

7. Margaret on 1850 census Marshalline 1860 census

8. Clementine Bevard b 1853 WI, listed 1860 Rice TWP; 1870 census with sister Eliza Bevard Rodden in Elizabeth, IL, 1880 Lincoln, Plymouth Co. Iowa census with father James and brother James.

Mother Mary E Bevard is buried at Prospect Cemetery in Jo Daviess as is her daughter Mary J Bevard Gammon and some of the Gammon family. The Log Church Cemetery Elizabeth, Jo Daviess, IL is the final resting place of Eliza Bevard Rodden 1840 - 1870 and some of her family
