18 March 1873 Galena Daily
Mrs. (Rosanna) Wise had a wagon load of fish in market this morning. The proprietors of the fish market at Green Street Bridge, are down at the lower end of Galena River today trying their luck at fishing. The mouth of the Galena River is frozen over, and they cannot get through into the Mississippi with their skiff and at the same time they have not much confidence in Galena River as a field for piscatorial operations. The Mississippi is open down at New California, and it is here that Mrs. Wise is making her big hauls of fish.

Tuesday, Jan. 23rd inst., Mrs. Rosanna Wise had a narrow accident on the Illinois Central road near Plainfield, Iowa. Mrs. Wise was on her way home from Osage when a mile south of Plainfield the breaking of the trucks derailed the passenger car which was thrown 12 feet off the track. Mrs. Wise was thrown against the stove and burned badly, and then fell across to the opposite side of the car where she was afterwards found unconscious. One hand was badly burnt and her body badly bruised, but fortunately she escaped without permanent injury. It is well that she escaped with her life.

12 April 1886 Galena Daily - A Bold Robbery On Sand Prairie.
Abraham L. Wise, son of Mrs. Rosanna Wise, who keeps a boarding house on Sand Prairie, came to Galena this morning and reported that burglars entered his mother's house last night while the family were asleep and chloroformed Mrs. Wise, her daughter Jennie and himself, after which the robbers secured a gold watch valued at $100, a revolver valued at $7 and $140 in money, all belonging to Mrs. Wise. Mrs. Wise and son and daughter were sleeping on the lower floor, and three boarders were sleeping upstairs. The latter it appears were not disturbed and upon coming downstairs in the morning they found it very difficult to arouse the sleepers who were still under the influence of the chloroform. The bold robbery is supposed to have been perpetrated by some of the laborers on the C. B. & N. Railroad.
