Townsend of Scales Mound, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cross, James Millwright of Rockford, Mr. & Mrs. Harry Tear and son Thomas of Galena, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Hicks of Savanna were among those from a distance who attended the funeral of Frank Hicks Tuesday afternoon.

The annual banquet and ball of the Warren Fire Dept. was held Thursday evening. A delicious 3-course banquet was served to about 80 by the Ladies Aid of St. Ann's church. The fire chief, Edward Steimle served as toastmaster. He called on the new Mayor Austin Burrows who expressed his willingness to co-operate with the fire department.

The annual election of the Warren Fire Dept. was held recently with the following being elected: Chief - Edward Steimle; assistant chief - Milton Beecher; foreman- John S. Toay; assistant foreman - Glen Gale; secretary - Harold Enright; treasurer - Lloyd Zeigle. The trustees appointed by the chief are Homer Cashman, Clyde Franke and James Bourquin.
