Dorothy L. Byrd

Dorothy L. Byrd, daughter of Eugene Bonds & Beulah (Cato) Bonds, was born February 28, 1930 in Stonefort, Illinois. She departed this life Friday morning, September 10, 2004, at 7:01 AM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. At the time of her passing, Dorothy had attained the age of 74 years 6 months & 13 days.

Survivors include: 2 Sons – Roy & Linda Byrd of Vienna, IL and Lloyd & Debbie Byrd of Dublin, GA; a Daughter – Karen & Steve Shomo of Warwick, NY; 13 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; a Sister – Lucille McGuire of Pittsburg, IL; Nieces & Nephews.

In addition to her Parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by 4 Brothers – Rock, Tom, Robert & Francis Bonds; and a Sister – Evelyn Richey.

Dorothy was employed as a Mental Health Technician at the Choate Mental Health Center for 36 years, prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was currently attending the Pittsburg Freewill Baptist Church. Dorothy was also a member of the Anna Moose Lodge # 1346. 

She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, fishing & dancing. Dorothy never met a stranger and she was loved by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, September 13, 2004, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Eddie Donelson will officiate. Interment will be in the Cana Cemetery, north of Goreville, IL. Friends may call after 5 PM Sunday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
