Esther Harner
Esther Harner, daughter of Walter Vinson & Hattie Elvira (Riley) Vinson, was born October 3, 1914 in Carterville, Illinois. She departed this life Saturday evening, April 23, 2005, at 7:01 PM at the Herrin Hospital. At the time of her passing, Esther had attained the age of 90 years 6 months & 20 days. Esther was united in marriage to Paul J. Harner in 1931 in Tunnel Hill, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1991. Survivors include – a Daughter – Georgia & Albert Gardner of Battle Creek, Michigan; 4 Sons – Wayne & Mary Ann Harner of Eldorado, IL, Kenneth & Virginia Harner of Tunnel Hill, IL, Jerry & Kay Harner of Cypress, IL, and Darrel & Linda Harner of Tunnel Hill, IL; 20 Grandchildren; Several Great Grandchildren; a Sister – Iva Mae Price of Peoria, IL; Nieces & Nephews. In addition to her Parents & Husband, Esther was preceded in death by: a Sister – Eva Lea Williams; 2 Brothers – George Vinson & Everett Vinson. Esther was an honors graduate of the Tunnel Hill Public School. She had been employed as a housekeeper at the Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna, IL. Esther had also served as a cook at the Tunnel Hill Public School. Esther was devoted to her family & home. She enjoyed quilt making and flower gardening. She was a member of the Community of Christ (Webb) Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, April 27, 2005, at 11 AM at the Community of Christ (Webb) Church. High Priest Glenn Webb will officiate. Interment will be in the Webb Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 PM Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. The body will lie-in-state at the church from 10 AM - 11 AM Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Community of Christ (Webb) Church, c/o Dale Hodge, 5860 Tunnel Hill Road, Goreville, IL 62939. |
