Gary A. Weston
Gary A. Weston, 52, of Vienna, passed away at 2:10 a. m. Saturday, April 24, 2004 at the St. Louis University Medical Center in St. Louis. Mr. Weston was born April 14, 1952, in Anna. He was the son of Edward "Jiggs" Weston and Christine (ALDRED) Weston. Gary was united in marriage to Nine E. (WHITESIDE) on Dec. 16, 1972, in Mounds. She survives. Other survivors include his mother, Christine Weston of Metropolis; a son, Richard N. Weston of Granite City; two daughters, Rachel A. Weston of Honolulu, Hawaii and Elizabeth E. Weston of Vienna; five grandchildren, Trey, Derek, Heather, Dalton, and Parker; two brothers, Ben and wife Jan Weston of Vienna, Ed and his wife Susan Weston of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Melinda and her husband Ron White of Austin, Texas; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Whiteside of Vienna and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Edward Weston. Gary was a 1970 graduate of Meridian High School. He retired in May 2002 with 30 years service to the Illinois Department of Corrections. He had attained the rank of Correctional Captain in 1990, then was promoted to the rank of Southern Team Leader for Standards and Accreditation. He was a member and certified auditor with the American Correctional Association and the Illinois Correctional Association. Additionally, Gary was a member of the Correctional Accreditation Managers Association. Gary was presently employed by Dyn Corp. International with the United nations as a International Police Officer/Corrections serving in Kosovo. Gary was a member of the Cairo Baptist Church. He locally attended Gilead Church near Simpson. Gary was a avid outdoorsman and sportsman. He especially enjoyed golfing, tennis, basketball, hunting and fishing. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004, at the Gilead Church. Interment will be in the Gilead Cemetery. Friends may call after 5p.m. today at the bailey Funeral Home in Vienna and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the Gilead Church. Memorials may be made to the Gilead Church (Kosovo Children's Fund) in care of Steve Kerley, 260 Gum Springs Road, Simpson, IL 62985.
