Harriet M. Cunningham

Harriet M. Cunningham, 83, of Herrin, formerly of Vienna, passed away at 10:55 a.m. Sunday, June 5, 2005, at Parkway Manor in Marion.

Harriet was a former hairdresser in Wheaton, and formerly worked as a mail clerk at the Vienna Correctional Center in Vienna.

She was a member of Ballou Baptist Church of Vienna.

She was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Ottawa, to Carl and Pauline (Steinke) Smith. Harriet was united in holy matrimony with William E. ‘Bill’ Cunningham in 1946 in Chicago. He preceded her in death in October 1996.

Surviving are a daughter, Lois Guy of Herrin; two granddaughters and their husbands, Valerie and Tom White of Metropolis and Christy and Bob Hamilton of Herrin; and one great-grandson, Jason Moss of Herrin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law, David L. Guy; parents and two brothers, Elvin and Glen Smith.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005, in Vienna Fraternal Cemetery, the Rev. Willard Murrie officiated.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Services were entrusted to Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin.
