James Floyd Clayton Jr.
James F. Clayton, Jr., son of James Floyd Clayton, Sr. & Edith Venita (Durfee) Clayton, was born November 15, 1922 in Harrisburg, IL. He departed this life Sunday evening, June 26, 2005 at the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Marion, IL. At the time of his passing, James had attained the age of 82 years, 7 months & 11 days. James was united in marriage to Janette (Diefenbach) on March 1, 1945. She preceded him in death on June 25, 1998. Survivors include: 2 Brothers – Donald Clayton of Anna, IL & Richard Clayton of Vienna, IL; Several Nieces & Nephews; a Dear Friend – Betty Stout of Eldorado, IL .In addition to his Parents & Wife, James was preceded in death by: a Son – Gary Dale Clayton on May 14, 1973. James was a United States Navy Air Force Veteran having served during World War II. He was a former member of the VFW & American Legion. James was employed for 32 years as an Oil Refinery Operator in Lemont, IL for Unocal Oil Company (formerly Pure Oil & Union 76). James was a member of the Goreville First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. James was an avid outdoorsman & sportsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, bowling, dancing & shooting pool. James leaves his family & many friends to cherish his memory. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, June 30, 2005 at 1:30 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, IL. Rev. Ron Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the VFW. Friends may call after 6 PM Wednesday at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
