James Lloyd Cheek

James Lloyd Cheek, passed away May 11, 2005. He was born July 21, 1918 in Johnson County, Illinois. Son of Joseph E. Cheek & Dimple (Comer) Cheek.


James was united in marriage to Pauline (Riley) on September 27, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, MO. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2002.


Survivors include: 2 Daughters – Patricia & Robert Williams of Tunnel Hill, IL & Barbara & Larry Mighell of Buncombe, IL; 3 Sons – Tommy & Carol Cheek of Vienna, IL, Jerry Cheek of Vienna, IL & Billy & Barbara Cheek of Vienna, IL; 6 Grandchildren – Theresa Williams, Bart Mighell, Jennifer Mighell, Jim Cheek, Jarrod Cheek & Shekinah Cheek; 1 Great Grandson – Lane Charles Cheek; 1 Sister – Bettajean & Ray Hester of Belknap, IL; Many Nieces & Nephews.


In addition to his Parents & Wife, James was preceded in death by: 2 Brothers – James Comer Cheek & Raymond Cheek.


James was a US Army Veteran having served during World War II. James had served as a Bus Driver & Custodian for the  Vienna Public School system for 35 years. He also had worked at the Hogshead Feed Store and as a farm laborer for Paul Fairless & several other local farmers. He enjoyed rabbit hunting & fishing.


James leaves his family & many dear friends to cherish his memory.


A Private Family Graveside service will be held at the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday evening, May 12, 2005 after 6 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Lourdes Hospice, 616 Market Street, Metropolis, IL 62960.
