James Alton Young

James Alton Young, 67, passed away at 3:40 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2006,
at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, July 2, 2006, at Busby Chapel
Church in Goreville with the Rev. Kenny Blumenstock officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Sunday, at the church.
Blue Funeral Home in Goreville is in charge of the arrangements. Burial
will be at Busby Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer
Society; envelopes will be available at the church and the funeral home or
may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mr. Young was born April 9, 1939, in Blytheville, Ark. to Woodrow and
Irene (Brown) Young. He married Ellie Jones on September 11, 1958, in
Chicago; together they shared almost 48 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Ellie of Goreville; sons and daughters-in-law,
James A. Young, Jr. and his wife Lanette Poteete-Young and Gregory A. and
Debra Young all of St. Charles; three grandchildren, Sydney Xiaoya Young,
Chelsey Young and Ryan Young; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray Young and
his wife Pam of Chicago, Norman and Linda Young of Hoffman Estates, Lee
and Dorothy Young of Streamwood and Larry Young of Chicago; and sister,
Pam Brooks of Bartlet.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, David Michael Young.
Mr. Young was a member of Busby Chapel Church in Goreville, where he was a
Sunday school superintendent and trustee. He was a student at John A.
Logan College, where he was taking biblical classes and theology classes.
He was an avid boater, fisherman and golfer.
