Keith L. Yates

Keith L. Yates, son of Wendell L. Yates & Carla June (Crews) Yates, was born July 13, 1951 in Harrisburg, IL. He departed this life Sunday afternoon, June 27, 2004 at 2:50 PM at his home near Buncombe, IL. At the time of his passing, Keith had attained the age of 52 years 11 months & 14 days.

Keith was united in marriage to Lois Ann Gurley-Inman. He was later united in marriage to Diane K. (Darner) on December 19, 1992 in Buncombe, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include: a Son – Joshua Yates of Cape Girardeau, MO; 3 Stepsons – Rick Spraggs, & his wife Sandy, of Vernon Hills, IL, Bill Spraggs, & his wife Michelle, of Chicago, IL, & Tom Spraggs of DeKalb, IL; a Grandson – Brendan Reese Spraggs; a Sister – Debbie Brown, & her husband Larry, of Vienna, IL; 2 Brothers – Kelly Yates, & his wife Sharon, of Benton, KY & George Yates, & his wife Vicky, of Vienna, IL; Several Nieces & Nephews.

Keith was a graduate of the Fenton High School in Bensonville, IL.

Keith was employed as the wood yard foreman at the Waldschmidt Wood Yard (a division of the Mead Westvaco Products) in Wickliffe, KY.

Keith was a faithful & devoted member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, near Buncombe, IL, where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent, Vacation Bible School Director, & Discipleship Training Instructor. Keith had formerly served as the Sunday School director for the Union Baptist Association.

Keith enjoyed computers, golfing, traveling, & gardening. Keith leaves his family & many dear friends to cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, June 29, 2004, at 2 PM at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, near Buncombe, IL. Rev. Jim Shipley & Rev. Floyd Stout will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 AM – 2 PM Tuesday at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
