Martha Ford, Simmons

Martha Ella (PIPPINS) Ford, Simmons, the daughter of Gilford and Jane (Porter) Pippins, was born on May 13, 1875 and departed this life on July 04, 1962 at the age of 87 years.

In 1892 she was united in  holy matrimony with John Ford, who preceded her in death in 1929. To this union six children were born. Left to mourn the passing of their beloved mother are one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Wilson of Vienna, and three sons, Willie, Roy, and Loren all of Vienna. One son Coy and one daughter Jennie Opal did not survive infancy.

She is further survived by one sister, Cora Hester of Vienna, 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren and  2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives all of whom sadly miss her. Four sisters Ada Thompson, Laura Crowder, Mal Clark and Ola Irwin and two brothers, Jim and Jesse Pippins have preceded her in death. One half sister, Francess Todd, and one half brother, Dave Pippins have also preceded her in death.

On September 26, 1933 she was married to Calvin Simmons, who has also preceded her in death.

Living most of her life in Johnson County she made numerous friends with whom she liked to share her experiences, hopes and disappointments. It was with these friends that she liked to visit and whose company she appreciated even in the last days of her life.

She carried with her unto death a firm belief in Christ and firmly believed in the resurrection of the dead through her Lord, Jesus. Now this child has been received into the protective arms of God, the Father with whom she will spend an Eternity, a reward for a life well lived.

Blessed be the name of Martha Ella Simmons
