Mary H. Williams

Mary H. (MILLER) Williams, daughter of John Walter Miller and Ethel (BRACKEN) Miller, was born December 13, 1916 in Tamms, Illinois. She departed this life Sunday morning, March 6, 2005, at 12:40 AM at the Southgate Health Care Center in Metropolis, Illinois. At the time of her passing, Mary had attained the age of 88 years 3 months & 24 days.


Mary was united in marriage to Elmer Duerst. She was later united in marriage to Charles M. Williams on September 1, 1954 in New London, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1970.


Survivors include: 2 Sisters – Juanita Laverne Sweet of Metropolis, IL and Martha L & Victor Hight of Joplin, MO; Nieces & Nephews.


In addition to her Parents & Husband Charles, Mary was preceded in death by: a Sister – Onita Miller Workman; and 4 Brothers – C.R. Miller, Bonard Moses Miller, John Timothy Biford Miller, & Herbert Hoover Miller.


Mary had served as an assistant to Dr. Lottman from Olive Branch, IL for a number of years. She later operated a Boarding House in Bowling Green, Missouri. Mary was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, canning & cooking. Mary also enjoyed fishing.


Mary attended the Gilead Cumberland Presbyterian Church.


Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, March 7, 2005, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Bud McDannel will officiate. Burial will be in the Gilead Cemetery, near Simpson, IL. Friends may call from 11 AM – 1 PM Monday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
