Minnie V. Smith

Minnie V. Smith, daughter of Marion Stevens & Cora (DUNN) Stevens, was born July 9, 1927 in Karnak, Illinois.

She departed this life Wednesday morning, October 15, 2003, at 2:15am at her home in Metropolis, IL. At the time of her passing , Minnie had attained the age of 76 years, 3 months, & 6 days.

Minnie was united in marriage to Raymond Smith in Chicago, IL in October 1971. He preceded her in death in June 1977.

Survivors include; 7 Sisters - Mary E. Williams of Cypress, IL, Erma Story of Metropolis, IL, Barbara Foster of Goreville, IL, Alberta "Bertie" Stevens of Park Ridge, IL, Velma Dickerson of Edwardsville, IL, Linda Price and Patricia Warner both of Sherwood, AR; 4 Brothers - Aaron Stevens of Rock Falls, IL, Marion Lewis Stevens of Olive Branch, IL, Wesley Rhymer of Dongola, IL, and Charles Johnson of Chicago, IL, Nieces & Nephews.

In addition to her Parents and Husband, Minnie was preceded in death by; An Infant Son - J. Junior Rhymer; 5 Sisters,  2 Brothers - William Emanuel Stevens & Billy Stevens; and her Stepmother - Alberta (JOHNSON) Stevens.

Minnie had worked in the file department of the Bankers Life & Casualty Insurance Company. She retired after over 20 years of service with Skill Corp. in Chicago, IL, where she had been employed as a supervisor. Minnie was of the Baptist faith . She was a member of the Independence Order of Foresters.

Minnie leaves her family & many friends to cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, October 18, 2003, at 11am at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Everett Owens will officiate. Burial will be in the Cypress Masonic Cemetery.
