M. Barthelme, daughter of Newton Jasper Murrie & Julia Edna
(Kerley) Murrie, was born July 7, 1922 in West Vienna, IL.
She departed this life Sunday afternoon, January 15, 2006 at 8:15 PM at the Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna, IL.At the time of her passing, Velma had attained the age of 83 years 6 months & 8 days.Velma was united in marriage to Gene Barthelme on July 29, 1943 in Ft. Sill, OK. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1979.Survivors include: 2 Sons – Mike Barthelme of Springfield, IL and Ron & Shirley Barthelme of O’Fallon, IL; A Grandson – Brandon & Carrie Barthelme of Creal Springs, IL; 2 Sisters – Flo Moeller of Marion, IL & Lena Reed of Grand Prairie, TX; Nieces & Nephews.In addition to her Parents & Husband, Velma was preceded in death by: 6 Brothers – Dearl, Murrie, Sr., Charles Murrie, Lowell Murrie, Dan Murrie, Bill Murrie & Bobby Ray Murrie. 2 Sisters – Chloe Soper & Emma Lou Carter. Velma was a 1941 graduate of Vienna High School. She was a homemaker & had also worked as a waitress at the Jolly Red Pig. Velma was a member of the Egyptian Chapter #30 Order of the Eastern Star & had served as Worthy Matron in 1986. She was also a member of the Prospect Unit of the Johnson County Homemaker’s Extension. Velma was a dedicated & devoted member of the Vienna First Baptist Church. Velma enjoyed crocheting.Velma leaves her family & friends to cherish her memory. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, January 20, 2006 at 1 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Bill Gholson will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 PM – 7 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home Thursday evening. Memorials are suggested to the Vienna First Baptist Church, P. O.
