Irmal L. Childress, daughter of W. Hillis Robinson & Myrtle (Kerley) Robinson, was born July 13, 1920 in Johnson County Illinois. She departed this life Sunday afternoon, February 22, 2004, at 1:05 PM at her home in Vienna, IL. At the time of her passing, Irmal had attained the age of 83 years 7 months & 9 days.
  Irmal was united in marriage to John W. “J.W.” Childress in September 1939 in the Flatwoods community in Pope County Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1988.
  Survivors include: 2 Daughters – Doris & Carl Greene of Bryson, TX and Teri & Raymond Smith of the New Columbia community; 8 Grandchildren – Karla Greene-Windhorst, Janet Greene-Manning, Debbie Greene-Stubbs, Tammy Greene-Griffen, Clint Smith, Cody Smith, Melissa Smith, & Melanie Smith; 8 Great Grandchildren; a Great-Great Granddaughter; a Sister – Cleo Cravens of Vienna, IL; a Brother – W. Esco Robinson of Christopher, IL; Nieces & Nephews.
  Irmal was a graduate of the Simpson High School. She was a homemaker. Irmal was also a caregiver to her husband and other family members during their illnesses.
  Irmal was a member of the County Line Baptist Church in the Flatwoods community. She had more recently attended the New Hope Baptist Church at New Columbia and the Vienna First Baptist Church. Irmal enjoyed sewing, yard work and flower gardening.
 Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, February 25, 2004, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Marlin Mitchell will officiate. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Cemetery.
