OLD CIVIL WAR VETERAN ANSWERS THE FINAL CALL

  Thomas Lenore Coleman, son of Thomas and Mary Coleman, was born in Middle Tennessee, Aug 20, 1835, died at the home of his daughter, Mary J Thomas, near Buncombe, Ill., Sept. 7, 1920 --- aged 85 years and 17 days. He was united in marriage first to Mary Penrod and to this union 8 children were born; Mrs. Mary J. Thomas of Buncombe, Jerome of Mounds, and David of East St. Louis. His first wife died during the Civil War while he was in service. She died of small pox and George B. Boomer, William Gold and Mary Kaufner were her only attendants while living and at the burial. He was married the second time to Susan Ann Wright, to this union 12 children were born. Five of them having preceded him to the other side. Those living being Jefferson Coleman of East St. Louis; Willis Coleman of Hickory Ridge, Ark.; Sophronia Jobe, Mound City; Nora Vines, Future City; Lucretia Deputy, Mound City; Elmer Coleman, Dongola; Lenore Coleman, San Francisco, Cal., who having served 12 years in the regular army next November.
  Thomas L. Coleman was a veteran in the Civil War in Co. D 31st Ill. Regt. (Logan's old regiment).
  He was laid to rest in the Coleman Cemetary southwest of Buncombe, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. W. Peterson of Buncombe.
  All of the children are thankful to their neighbors and friends for their help and sympathy during the long sickness of their father.
