Wayne Mizell

Wayne Mizell, 84, of rural Simpson, died 2:45 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. He was born Feb. 27, 1916, in Simpson township in Johnson County, to the late Walter E. and Ellen (Kerley) Mizell.Mr. Mizell was married to the former Wilma L. Palmer on June 5, 1937 near Simpson. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Rajeane Watson and her husband, Victor of Simpson, Lanelle Cannon and her husband, Ed of Harrisburg; a son, Larry Mizell and his wife, Barbara of Vienna; seven grandchildren, Chris and wife, Lynell Watson, Tim and wife, Kerry
Watson, Jeff and wife, Laura Evitts, Pam and husband, David Bramlet, Margo Mizell, Megan Mizell, and John and wife, Cindy Cannon; eight grandchildren, Brock, Brett, Blake, Rylee, Shelly, Sarah, Bo and Shea; three brothers and their wives, Clyde and Ione Mizell of Taylors, S.C., Robert and Annelle Mizell of Petersburg, and Rillis and wife, Ella Mae Mizell of Joliet; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lora Sickling, Alice Kerley and Monterley Lierley, and three brothers, Orlan "Tom" Mizell, Orval Mizell and Herschel Mizell.
He was a graduate of the Simpson High School.
Mr. Mizell retired Dec. 31, 1973 after 36 years service with the University of Illinois Dixon Springs Agricultural Center, where he was employed as farm foreman in the Department of Agronomy.
Wayne was an active member of the Glendale United Methodist Church, where he had served as trustee, song leader, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, reader and
greeter. He was a 50+ year member of Gurney Masonic Lodge No. 778 AF&AM and also a 50 + year member of Modern Woodmen of the World. He also served as a board member for the Glendale Cemetery. In his retirement,
Wayne enjoyed carpentry. He also enjoyed keeping a daily journal, which he had faithfully maintained since the age of 18 years.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at the Glendale United Methodist
Church. The Revs. Michael Abel, Randall Douglass and Tom Richards will officiate. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna and at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.

the funeral home at the church.
