Arthur "Art" Murrie, 86, of Vienna, died 8:53 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2000, in Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
     He was born Nov. 28, 1913, in Johnson County, to the late Charles W. and Ollie Jane (Pettiford) Murrie.
     He was an organist and pianist for 23 years at the Simpson Baptist Church, where he was a member.  He was a former organist for Broadway Baptist Church in Paducah for more than 20 years.
     Mr. Murrie was the 1932 valedictorian at Vienna High School and graduated from the Illinois School for the Blind in Jacksonville and received his masters degree in music from Illinois Wesleyan in Normal.
     Survivors include a brother, Hartwill Murrie of Vienna; seven nieces, and two nephews.
     A sister, Violet Murrie, a brother, Arvel Murrie and four infant brothers also preceded him in death.
     Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Friday.  William Barrett will officiate and burial will be in Murrie Family Cemetery.
     Aly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
     Memorials may be made to the Simpson Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
