J. B. Newton, 75, of
Goreville died Oct. 2, 1995, at his home in Goreville.
He was born in Goreville April 16, 1920.
He was retired from the dietary
department at the Department of Veterans Administration Hospital in
Marion. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, attended
Cedar Groves Baptist Church and attended Johnson county public schools.
He was married in Kentucky on Oct 29,
1949.
Survivors include his wife, Dean Newton,
of Goreville; two sons, Dennis and James Newton, both of Goreville;
four daughters, Diana, Cheryl, and Carla Newton, all of Goreville and
Pat Dupont of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
George and Betsy Burklow Newton; three brothers, Robert, Claude and
George Marion Newton; one sister Bertha Bradley; two infant siblings;
and one grandson.
Services are being held today, Thursday,
at 2 p.m. at Whitnel Funeral Chapel in Goreville with the Rev. Kenneth
McNeely officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery
west of Buncombe.
Whitnel Funeral Chapel in Goreville is
in charge of arrangements.
