Ralph L. Parmele
Funeral Home in Vienna. The Rev. John Bailey and Dr. Larry Orange will officiate, with burial in Gilead Cemetery, near Simpson. He died at 9 p.m. Saturday at his home. Mr. Parmele was a retired fire inspector from Caterpillar Inc. in Morton, where he also worked in the security department. He also operated a farm, and worked as a rural mail carrier. He was a member of First Christian Church in Mackinaw, Mackinaw Masonic Lodge 132 AF&AM, Mohammed Shrine Temple in Peoria, Robert E. Lee Grand Order 46 Sword of Bunker Hill in Brookport and Moonshiners Clan 39 Grand and Glorious Order of Hillbilly Degree. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite Council, Chapter and Consistory, Valley of Peoria. He was also the president of Shawnee Shrine Club in Vienna. He is survived by his wife, Rita Wells Parmele; two sons, Daniel Parmele of Orlando, Fla., and Michael Parmele of Sunnyland; four brothers, Ursel Parmele of Rensselaer, Ind., David Parmele of Fort Collins, Colo., and Jerry Parmele and Ronald Parmele, both of Mackinaw; a sister, Noreen Howbrack of Arizona; seven grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Leon Kerley. His parents were Earl and Iris Robertson Parmele. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Tuesday, where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 by Vienna Masonic Lodge 150 AF&AM.
