SIMPSON -- Sue Ross, 71, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at her home.
  Sue was born Sept. 29, 1939, in Johnson County. She was the daughter of William Paul and Helen Elizabeth (Taylor) Shoemaker.
  Sue was united in marriage to Lowell Ross on June 15, 1957, in Vienna First Baptist Church. He survives.
  Other survivors include her children, Tami Patton and her husband, Gary, of Marion, Mark Ross and his wife, Jennifer, of Tunnel Hill and Lisa Miller and her husband, Lee, of Vienna; 10 grandchildren, Jason Via, Justin and Michelle Via, Kerry and James Fleeger, Ryan and Angela Patton, Aaron Ross, Emily Ross, Shaelyn Browder, Madison Browder, Larrah Miller and Lennah Miller; a great-granddaughter, Kylene Fleeger; a brother, Bob Shoemaker and his wife, Jean, of Vienna; and several nieces and nephews.
  In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Joan Morris.
  Sue was a 1957 graduate of Vienna High School. She had been employed as a bookkeeper by Shawnee Development Council. Sue later worked in the office of Johnson County Clerk and Recorder and served for a period of time as the deputy county clerk.
  She was a faithful and devoted member of Simpson Baptist Church, where she had formerly served as Sunday school clerk and as a member of the church choir.
   Sue was an excellent cook. She loved spending time and playing games with her family. Sue enjoyed playing cards, and especially enjoyed playing pinochle. She was blessed with a wonderful personality, and everyone who met her loved her.
  Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, in Gilead Cemetery near Simpson. Those attending the services are asked to gather at the cemetery at about 10:45 a.m. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
  The preferred form of remembrance is donations to Simpson Baptist Church (building fund), P.O. Box 102, Simpson, IL 62985.
