A resident of rural Simpson, IL. Passed away Wednesday morning, May 23, 2007, at 9:30 AM at her home near Simpson, IL. Mary was born October 26, 1921 in Murphysboro, Illinois. She was the daughter of Albert Harrison & Elsie Mae (Clift) Harrison. Mary was united in marriage to John B. Rushing on July 5, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Together, John & Mary have enjoyed over 65 years of marriage. In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by: 2 Sons - Ron & Helen Rushing of Shawneetown, IL Dan & Verna Rushing of Metropolis, IL a Daughter – Ellen & Bill Broom of Simpson, IL 8 Grandchildren - Ryan Rushing, Ronda Duckworth, Chandra Stanley, Chelli Hardison, Kyle Broom, Ashley Broom, Paul Maynard, and Robert Maynard 13 Great Grandchildren Several Nieces & Nephews. In addition to her Parents, Mary was preceded in death by: 3 Brothers: Raymond Harrison, Albert Leo Harrison, & John G. Harrison Mary was a homemaker. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed quilt making and crocheting. Mary also enjoyed writing and was an avid reader. Mary, along with her cousins Lucille Montgomery & Peggy Montgomery, joined the Glendale United Methodist Church at the age of 15 years. She remained a faithful and dedicated member throughout her lifetime. Mary served her church for 7 years as the music director. She was also a Methodist Youth Leader and was Supervisor of Youth at the Beulah Methodist Youth Camp at Eldorado, IL for a number of years. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 26, 2007, at 1 PM at the Glendale United Methodist Church. Rev. Dennis Fager will officiate. Interment will be in the Glendale Cemetery.Friends may call from 5 PM – 8 PM Friday at the Glendale United Methodist Church |
