Toler, U.S. Army Ret., 57, of Goreville, died early Saturday (November
30, 1974) of a heart attack at his home.
He was born March 10, 1917, in Goreville to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Toler. He married Lillian Pena. Major Toler, a 25-year Army Veteran, served four years of com bat duty during World War II including battle campaigns in Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. Major Toler was a member of the Marion posts of the American Legion and the VFW, the Officers Association of Washington, D.C., and the United Methodist Church of Goreville. Survivors include his wife, his father; a daughter, Shirley Jean Toler of Goreville; two brothers Don Toler of West Frankfort and Larry Toler of Boston, Mass.; five sisters, Pauline Newlin of Herrin, Naoma Martin of Xenia, Ohio, Evelyn Throgmorton of Marion, and Mary Williams and Mrs. Lee Tate, both of Dayton, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Van Natta-Meredith Funeral Chapel in Goreville with the Rev. Virgil Elmore of the United Methodist Church officiating. Burial well be in the Cana Cemetery north of Goreville. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel. |
