Sarah Harner


Sarah Gail Harner, daughter of Noah Fairless & Sarah Jane (Johnston) Fairless, was born January 30, 1917 in the Bloomfield Township (Johnson County) Illinois. She departed this life Wednesday afternoon, May 12, 2004, at 1 PM at the Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, IL. At the time of her passing, Gail had attained the age of 87 years, 3 months, & 12 days.


Survivors include: 5 Sons – Ronald & Floy Harner, Dennis & Pat Harner, Dallas & Charlene Harner, Jesse & Darlene Harner, & David & Donna Harner all of Vienna, IL; a Daughter – Linda & John Ming of Cypress, IL; 17 Grandchildren; 35 Great Grand children; and 2 Great-Great Grand children; a Brother – Curtis Fairless of Vienna, IL; 3 Sisters – Mary Alice Rainbolt of Bradley, IL, Verla Kerley of Bloomfield, IL, & Lola May Boyd of Indianapolis, IN; Nieces & Nephews.


In addition to her Parents, Gail was preceded in death by: a Son – Michael Ray Harner; 2 Brothers – Dale Fairless & Hoover Fairless; and a Sister – Betty Zeigler.


Gail was a graduate of the Vienna High School. She had worked as a cook at the Bob White Café & Big Boys Restaurant. Gail was an avid reader. She especially enjoyed reading mystery novels. She also enjoyed walking & flower gardening.


Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, May 15, 2004, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 PM Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
