Ted Farris
Ted Farris,66, of Goreville, formerly of Miller City, died suddenly at 4:52a.m. Thursday, May 28, 1998 on arrival at Marion Memorial Hospital. He was born December 6, 1931 in Alexander County, the son of Samuel and Dovie (DENFIP) Farris. He was married on October 29, 1950 to Elanor Stuart. Mr. Farris retired as a Shift Foreman of Operations at Southern Illinois Power Coop where he had worked for 31 years. he has served on the Goreville School Board and the Goreville Town Board. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of Saline Lodge #339 AF & AM and was a member and past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star Chapter #1009. He was a member of Lake Milligan Baptist Church at Miller City. Survivors include his wife, Elanor of Goreville; a daughter, Debbie Sue Farris of Goreville; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Bob and Donna Farris & Gary and Terra Farris all of Goreville; nine grandchildren, Christi (Bill) Johnson, Shawn Mitchell, Tiffany Farris, Aaron Farris, Corrie Farris, Matthew Farris, Nikki Farris, J. R. Clay, and Amanda Clay; three great grandchildren, Megan Johnson, Billy Johnson, and Dakota Albright; a brother, Don Eugene Farris of Miller City; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jo and Russell Healey of Olive Branch; two aunts, Ruth Murphy and Pauline Ambler, both of Cape Girardeau, sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lynn Farris on November 11, 1952. Visitation was on Saturday, May 30 from 5-8p.m. at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, then on Sunday from 5-9p.m. at Whitnel Funeral Home in Goreville where Saline Lodge #339 conducted Masonic services at 7p.m. Funeral services for Ted Farris were held at 1p.m. Monday, June 1, at Whitnel Funeral Home in Goreville with Ron Ferguson officiating. Interment followed in the Busby Chapel Cemetery.
