Violet B. Merriman

Violet B. Merriman, daughter of Lee & Effie (ROW) Robertson, was born March 13, 1913 in the Elvira Township (Johnson County) Illinois. She departed this life Sunday evening, September 14, 2003 at 10:45pm at her home in Goreville, IL. At the time of her passing, Violet had attained the age of 90 years, 6 months, and 1 day. Violet was united in marriage to Truman Merriman on December 26, 1929. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2002.

Violet is survived by; a Son- Truman Merriman Jr. and his wife Mary of Goreville, IL; 2 Daughters- Ellen Dunn and her husband Kenneth of Tiskilwa, IL. and Linda Gurley and her husband Ray of Dixon, IL; 5 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren; 4 Great-Great Grandchildren; a Brother- Gus Robertson of Sullivan, IL; Nieces & Nephews.

In addition to her Parents & Husband, Violet was preceded in death by; a Daughter- Viola Merriman; 2 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; a Brother- John Robertson; a Sister- Mable Kauder.

Violet was a homemaker. She was also a retired mental health attendant at the Anna State Hospital in Anna, IL.

Violet was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, near Buncombe, IL. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, and fishing.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, September 18, 2003, at 2:30pm at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Buncombe, IL.

Friends may call after 6pm Wednesday at Bailey Funeral Home.
