William Averitt
William "Bill" Averitt, son of William Thomas Averitt & Alice (HARRIS) Averitt, was born May 18, 1928 in Vienna, IL. He departed this life Tuesday afternoon, October 21, 2003 at 4:20pm at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, IL. At the time of his passing Bill had attained the age of 75 years, 5 months & 3 days. Bill was united in marriage to Mary E. Abner on September 22, 1945 in Newport, KY. She preceded him in death on November 1, 2002. Survivors include; 3 Daughters - Agnes Rose of El Paso, IL. Mary & Elry Faulkner of Vienna, IL.; Carol & Neal Watkins of Vienna, IL.; 6 Sons - Albert & Jeanette Norton of Chatsworth, GA. William & Emma Averitt, Jr. of Marion, Ky. Thomas Averitt of Marion, IL. Jesse Averitt of Vienna, IL. Gary & Patsy Averitt of Goreville, IL. & John Paul Averitt of Anna, IL; 30 Grandchildren; Several Great Grandchildren; Great Great Grandchildren; 5 Brothers - James Eugene Averitt, David Averitt, Charlie Averitt, Daniel Averitt, & Edward Averitt all of Vienna, Il; a Sister - Rose Harris of Vienna, IL; Nieces & Nephews. In addition to his Parents & Wife, Bill was preceded in death by a Daughter, 2 Sisters, 3 Grandchildren, & 4 Great Grandchildren. Bill was a retired automotive mechanic & truck driver. He was a member of the Faith Harvest Assembly of God in Vienna, IL. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, automotive mechanic work and had been an avid C. B. radio operator. His handle was "Cannon." Bill leaves his family and many friends to cherish his memory. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, October 24, 2003, at 1pm at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Rick Swiney, Rev. Tex Perry, & Rev. Steven Lindsay will officiate. Burial will be in the Berea Cemetery, southeast of Vienna, IL. Friends may call from 11am - 1pm Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorials may be made to the Faith Assembly of God Church, P. O. Box 565, Vienna, IL. 62995.
