Francis Edwin & Nancy (Barrett) Rogers

Fifty years ago last Thursday, April 27, Mr. Frank E. Rogers and Miss Nancy Barratt journeyed across country to Dixon where they were united in holy wedlock. To this union three children were born: Belle, now Mrs. Joe Miller; Frank D. and Mary, now Mrs. G. R. McHenry of Rochelle. For fifty years this happy couple have lived on the Rogers homestead and shared the battle of life. Last Thursday the children, grandchildren and a few close neighbors gathered at the old home and partook of a bounteous dinner. During the dinner hour the children presented their father with a beautiful gold Odd Fellows charm and their mother with an equally beautiful gold brooch. During the afternoon between the hours of 3 and 5, friends and neighbors to the number of 100 gathered at the home in honor of the occasion. Ice cream and cake were served and many happy reminiscences were related.

The members of the G. A. R. and W. R. C. presented the couple with two gold pieces and members of the Odd Fellows and others presented them with two leather upholstered rocking chairs. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers are held in high esteem by their many friends; and this occasion will be one of the many enjoyable events of their long wedded journey to which they may look back to with pleasure in the golden sunset of life.
