He married Mary Bunker February 09, 1834 in Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire, Ebgland, daughter of William & Sara Bunker. Joseph left Liverpool and Queenstown England and arrived in New York on the ship 'City of Chester' on July 21, 1873 at the age of 24. Joseph Batchelor is buried in the Ashton Cemetery, Lee Co., IL. Joseph attended the Methodist Church in Ashton, IL
