James Robert Davis
Train Fatality

James Robert Davis, 13 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Davis, 507 12th avenue, Sterling, was fatally hurt when struck by an eastbound Northwestern Freight train near the water works pumping station at the east end of Sterling at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening. He died at the public hospital at 11:45 p.m. from shock and severe chest injuries.

The boy, this years graduate from Central School Sterling whose brother T Sgt Wm. Davis was killed in action recently had been swimming with some young companions and they were walking along the tracks on their way home when he met his fatal injury. It is believed he became confused when he saw the train approaching and failed to notice which track it was running.

Funeral services will be held in Taber Iowa to which place the body will be taken this evening.
