GLENN W. IKENS , 89, of rural Amboy, died Saturday, March 27, 2004, in Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Mendota. Funeral Services were on Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., in the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, with Robert Hughes, Elder, officiating. Burial was in Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation was Monday, March 29, 2004, in the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Ikens was born April 16, 1914, in Amboy, the son of George and Lillie (Graf) Ikens. He married Mae Woodrow in Dixon on Oct. 16, 1933. She preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 1981.

Survivors include three daughters, Bettie Swarts of Indianola, Iowa, Marie (Robert) Hopkins of Stillman Valley, and Ruth (Ronald) Dewey of Dixon; one son, Dale Ikens (Janet Hoover) of Dixon; 17 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dora Abbott, a brother, George Ikens Jr., and sisters, Eula Ikens and Eva Myers. He farmed the farm on which he was born and lived all his life. He was also a musician. He was a member of the Mendota Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses.

DORIS J. (NAESE) , 69, of DeKalb, Ill., died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at Bethany Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in DeKalb. Born Jan. 16, 1938, in Kankakee, she was the daughter of Charles and Georgia (Williams) Naese. She married Otto W. Ickes Sr. on Jan. 3, 1958, in Sycamore. Doris was a cook and a homemaker. She was a member of Compton First Baptist Church in Compton. She also attended the Senior Services Center in DeKalb and volunteered at TransVAC in DeKalb. She is survived by six children, Phyllis Ickes of Silvis, Debbie (Gary) Harris of DeKalb, Otto William Ickes Jr. of Dixon, George Ickes of Tulsa, Okla., and Kent Ickes and Jerry Ickes, both of Dixon; two sisters, Marilyn (Dale) Hindenburg of Sycamore and Carol Paschke of Malvern, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Fran Naese; several nieces and nephews; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto; her parents; three brothers, Wayne, Bernard and Jerry; two stepsons, Roger Ickes and Ricky Ickes; and a great-granddaughter, Shuyler Ann Ickes. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home, 310 Oak St., DeKalb, IL 60115, with Dan Penn, chaplain of Unity Hospice, officiating. Burial will be at Wyoming Cemetery in Paw Paw. Visitation will be from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
