Notes: The Leach family included those who were associated with Hiram Leach's sons, and others, who removed to Hardin Co., Iowa after the Civil War from Lee Co., Ill and prior to that from Niagara Co., NY. Also, some descendents of Noble Leach, brother of Hiram and both sons of Amos and Dorcas (Giddings) Leach of Niagara Co., NY. Hiram and his wife, Mariah (Farnum) Leach are buried in Franklin Grove Cemetery as is Dorcas "wife of Amos" (g.s.). Mrs. Sheap, in the article, is Nellie I. (Nichols) Sheap of Franklin Grove, Ill. She was the wife of William L. Sheap of China Twnshp., and daughter of Andrew J. Nichols, son of John and Maritta (Leach) Nichols. (See "Lee County Biography"). The Mrs. Ruby Rigger in the article, from Franklin Grove, is probably Mrs. Sheap's sister, Ruby A. Riegle (Mrs. Willis) as in the biography. Hiram Leach died in Lee Co., Ill. before the war. This Leach family can be traced back to Sherman, Ct.
