Edward V. Rios to Ann Mekeel

The wedding of Miss Ann Mekeel and Edward V Rios took place at St. Flannens Catholic Church Harmon, February 27 with the Rev. D.A. Murphy officiating at the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Mekeel, Harmon and the bridegrooms parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Rios 1211 W. 20th St. Rock Falls.

The organist was Mrs. Howard McCormick and Miss Faye Ellen Anderson sang the nuptial mass.

Pink and white gladioli decorated the main altar of the church.

The brides full length gown of Chantilly lace over slipper satin had a fitted bodice, long sleeves coming to points at the wrist and a scalloped neckline. She carried a cascade bouquet of white gardenias. Her pearl earrings were a gift of the bridegroom.

Mrs. Ralph Rios, the matron of honor wore a full length delicate pink gown with a net skirt and a net lace top. The dress was worn with a matching lace bolero jacket with three quarter length sleeves and winged collar. Her pink rhinestone necklace and earrings were gifts from the bride. She carried a bouquet of pink roses.

The bridesmaide were Mrs. Richard Mekeel and Misses Donna and Doris Saunders and Miss Shirley Butler. Their pale blue gowns matched the matron of honors in style and they carried pink rose bouquets.

The flower girls were Miss Kathy Mekeel daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe McKeel and a niece of the bride, and Miss Laura Rios, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rios and a niece of the bridegroom. They wore pink taffeta gowns with peter pan collars and cap sleeves. They carried baskets of Miss Bountiful baby pink roses. The brides gift to each of her flower girls was a tiny pearl rosary.

The best man was Ralph Rios brother of the bridegroom and Richard Mekeel, Philip Mendez and Rob Henry were groomsmen.

The brides mother wore a navy suit with pink accessories and a corsage of pink carnations.

Mrs. Jesse Rios wore an aqua colored dress, black accessories and a pink corsage.

The wedding breakfast was held at the home of Julius Mekeel. Pink carnations and snapdragons decorated the wedding table at the breakfast and at dinner which was held at the Lincoln hotel Sterling. An afternoon reception followed the dinner.

For the wedding trip which will be spent in Rock Hill SC the bride wore a gray suit and powder blue top coat and black accessories.

Ann is a graduate of the Newman High School, Sterling and was employed at the Jones Law-Office Dixon.

The bridegroom is also a graduate of Newman High School and he is an employee of the Kroger Store in Sterling.

The couple will make their future home in Sterling
