ILLINOIS GENEALOGY TRAILS
The German Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery
[unknown transcriber - THANKS!]
This cemetery is in a wooded area, and is in need of great repair. The legible stones that are left, are all in German. Most of the stones are ruined or gone, the rest are scattered about and difficult, at best, to read. I've done my best reading the names and dates, please remember, with the shape these are in, there may be errors. I'm making an attempt to locate an original plat of this cemetery along with the early German records of these settlers.
Located in Collinsville. Directions to this cemetery:
Coming from Highway 159, From Fairview Heights, turn left on S. Clinton. From Maryville, turn right onto S. Clinton. Take S. Clinton to the second road to your left, which will be LaSalle. After the hill, begin looking to your left for the sign.
Coming from 157, turn left onto W. Main street, follow to the
first stop light, go through stop light, turning quickly right onto St. Clair. Take St. Clair down about
3 blocks, turning left onto La Salle. On the second hill, look to your right for the sign.
