We are indebted to the Mistona (? hard to read) Republican of yesterday, for the subjoined list of the deaths which have taken place in the 1?? or 5th Illinois regiment, under the command of Col. Newby, since he departed from this place about the middle of June last. This list, it will be observed, embrace one captain (the lamented Franklin Niles, of Edwardsvill) and thirty-six privates, all of whom have doubtless left relatives and friends to deplore their loss. We learn from the correspondence of the same paper, that the regiment has arrived at Santa Fe; and was "improving very fast in company drill," promising to sustain the high reputation gained by the Illinois volunteers last year." This regiment was to be disposed of as follows: Five companies, under the command of Lieut. Col. Bayakin, to garrison Santa Fe; two companies, commanded by Major Reynolds, to be stationed at Taos; and one company, probably Capt. Smithson's to remain at Vages. The destination of the others is not mentioned, but as Col. Newby, the officer in command at Santa Fe, was organizing an expedition to the South, it is probably they will accompany him. Capt. Hook had been ordered home in order to recruit for the regiment.
