[From The Troy (III.) Bulletin.] Jesse Renfro was born in the State of Kentucky, September 22, 1796. Lolly West was born in South Carolina, June. 12, 1800, They were married in Madison County, Illinois, September 4, 1817, where the aged couple have resided up to tho present date. They have had born unto them thirteen children, forty-five grandchildren and forty-three great-grandchildren. Total offspring, 101, of whom five children, twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchiildren are still living. Now. therefore, they take this opportunity to say to all their living offspring that should they live until the 4lh day of September, 1877, that will be their "diamond wedding," and they would be pleased to have. them all at the old homestead al 12 o'clock m. of said day to dine with them and receive their blessing. BETZOLD-UTECHTT

Miss Frances E Utechtt and Elmer Betzold to Wed
Marriage Will Take Place Early Part of Next Month
Four years ago Miss Frances E. Utechtt walked into the Betzold Meat Market, formerly on North Main st. and purchased some meat from Elmer Betzold, then a clerk in his father's store. Today friends learned that Miss Utechtt and Mr. Betzold will be married the early part of next month. The date of the marriage has not been set, but it will probably be about the second week in May. The marriage is to be performed in the evening at the Eden Evangelical church, but the pastor, Rev. H. Rahn. Only the immediate relatives will be present at the ceremony. The attendants will be Frederick Utechtt, brother of the bride-to-be and Miss Elsie Betzold, sister of the groom-to-be. The bride will be attired in a handsome blue silk dress, trimmed with a shadow lace and will carry roses. They will probably be gone on a short honeymoon for a week, after which they will reside for a time with the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Utechtt at 902 Highland st.
Since the couple met in the meat market, a lasting friendship sprang up and they were often seen together. Miss Utechtt passed the store many times during the period of years on her way to and from work. Their friendship reopened into a closer tie and sometime ago they became engaged. Both are well known persons and have been long time residents of Edwardsville. Miss Utechtt is employed at the Jack Dimond shirt company. Mr. Betzold is an industrious young man and is will liked. He is a son of Night Captain of Police, Fred Betzold. He is now employed as a tinner at the Edwards Rohrkaste Tin Shop.

HOFEDITZ-HAZEN Vows Said Here
Patricia Hazen, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Stanley P Hazen of Edwardsville, and Kevin Hofeditz, son of Mrs. Cleo Hofeditz of Edwardsville and the late Clarence F Hofeditz, were married recently in the First Presbyterian church. The Rev. Carl Bennett officiated. Jean Steinberg, sister of the bride, served as Matron of Honor, Elizabeth Hazen, Anne Hazen, and Suzanne Hazen, sisters of the bride, were bridesmaids. Craig Leitner was best man. Groomsmen were Brad [and Mark] Hofeditz, brothers of the groom, and Robert Hazen, brother of the bride. Ushers were James Hazen, brother of the bride, and Gary Smiley. Roxanne Devin sang, to the accompaniment of Debbie Bennett on organ and Grant Terier on violin. The bride is finishing her senior year at Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville, where she is majoring in theatre education. The groom is employed by the Metro Theatre Circus, a children's theatre group in St. Louis.

HOFEDITZ-BETZOLD Nuptials
Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Eden Evangelical church, Miss Cleo Betzold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer E Betzold became the bride of Clarence F Hofeditz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hofeditz. Rev. H. J. Bredehoeft performed the single ring ceremony before the altar which was decked with palms and ferns.
Before the wedding party entered the church to strains of "The Bridal Chorus," from Lohengrin, played by Mrs. Orville Bonham, Mrs. Marian Barnett sang, "Liebestraun." After the bridal group assembled before the altar, Miss Barnett sang "Because."
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white silk marquisette. The dress was made with a full gored skirt which extended into a circular train. The basque waist had a circular neckline trimmed with shirring and pearl orange blossoms. A row of tiny buttons of the same material trimmed the back from the stand-up lace collar to the waistline. The long sleeves were full at the shoulder and came to a point over the hand. She wore a finger tip length tulle veil attached to an off the face braided halo with tiny orange blossoms over each ear. She carried a cascade bouquet of gardenias.
The bridesmaids were Miss Margaret Recklein of Granite City and Mrs. Willard Berlemann of Champaign. Miss Recklein's peach chiffon dress and Mrs. Berlemann's dress of aqua chiffon were made alike with full skirts and fitted bodices, tiny pleatings trimming the short puffed sleeves and 'V' neck. On their heads they wore bridesmaid veils the same color as their dresses. The veils, which were thrown back off the face, were fastened with roses matching those in their bouquets. Miss Recklein carried an arm bouquet of Joanna Hill roses with light and dark blue delphinium and Mrs. Berlemann's bouquet was similar, her flowers being briarcliff roses and the shaded delphinium. Miss Barnett wore a dress of blue dotted organdy with a long full skirt. The waist was fitted with tiny puffed sleeves. A pink sash was the only trimming.
Melvin Utechtt of this city, uncle of the bride and Willard Berlemann of Champaign were the attendants of Mr. Hofeditz. Edward Utechtt, cousin of the bride and Calvin Hofeditz, cousin of the groom, served as ushers. He [the groom] is employed at the Kroger Grocery Store and the bride is connected with the editorial department of the Intelligencer.
After the wedding a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents for the bridal party and the immediate families. The wedding cake, which was decorated with a miniature bride and bridegroom, was surrounded with light blue delphinium and baby breath. This was used as a centerpiece for the table with pink tapers on either side. Following the reception the couple left for a wedding trip in Chicago. The bride's going away outfit was a beige and green bolero dress with which she wore beige and green accessories and a corsage of gardenias. Relatives and friends attended the wedding from St Louis, Litchfield, Alton, East St Louis, Granite City, Troy, Worden, and East Alton.

HOFEDITZ-KNOWLES
Judith Ann Knowles and Mark Joseph Hofedtiz were married recently in the First Presbyterian church by Rev. Carl Bennett. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Knowles of Edwardsville and the groom is the son of Mrs. Cleo Hofeditz and the late Clarence Hofeditz. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown styled of gardenia white silk organza, English net and venise lace with a court train. The high Victorian collar and short cap sleeves were accented with lace motifs. Her veil was secured to a Juliet cap of lace. She carried a bouquet of small white roses, baby's breath and German statice. Mrs. Jill Allaria was matron of honor. The other attendants were the bride's sisters, Jan and Nancy Knowles, and Mrs. Jill Schwear and Mrs. Faye Coffman. They were dressed alike in cotton voile and embossed organdy gowns of different pastel shades. They carried white baskets of daisies and baby's breath. The groom's attendants were Charles Coffman as best man, and Brad and Mark Hofeditz, his brothers, Dale Smith and Bob Pendergrass, as groomsmen.

HOLTEN-MASHEK
Couple Was Married
Miss Ida Mashek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mashek and Clarence Holten, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Holten, were united in marriage on Thursday [June 6] afternoon at 4 o'clock by Rev. Albert Suroweste at Shiloh, IL. Rev. Suroweste is a cousin of the groom. Mrs. Lyman Collins, organist of the Presbyterian Church was the organist. The attendants were Miss Celeste Mashek, the brides' sister and Mrs. Ina Fletcher and Alfred Holten. Little Bobby Wyatt served as ring bearer. Following the ceremony a reception was held at Cedar Lawn.
The bride is a graduate of the local high school and of the Southern Illinois Normal University and since her graduation has been teaching at the Lanham School on Troy Road. The groom is employed as foreman at the Illinois State Highway Paint Ship. After a short honeymoon they will reside on St Clair avenue.

Couple Married
Miss Lillian Nearen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Nearen, and Edward Mashek were married on Saturday [July 6] afternoon at the First Presbyterian church by Rev. Paul Stumpf. Attendants were Miss Marie Camenzind and John Mashek. Following the ceremony, the wedding party enjoyed a wedding supper at the Forest Park Hotel, after which the newly weds departed on a tour of New England states.

Had Home Wedding
Miss Doris Betzold Become Bride of C E Schwartz
It was Second Marriage in the Family Within a Year
A quiet home wedding occurred at the home of Police Captain Fred Betzold, on Center st., yesterday afternoon [Oct 22] at 3 o'clock when his daughter, Miss Dorris [Doris] E Betzold became the bride of Clayton E Schwartz.
The ceremony was performed by Rev. James R. Sager, pastor of the First Presbyterian church before a limited number of guests which included only the relatives of the couple. The attendants were Frederick E Betzold and Miss Ruth Schwartz. [siblings of the bridal couple]
The Betzold home was prettily decorated for the occasion with cut flowers which filled vases through out the rooms. The ceremony was performed in the front parlor. After the ceremony a wedding dinner was served. The romance began three years ago when Mrs. Schwartz visited Mr. Schawartz's sister, Miss Ruth. It was there that she [was] introduced and soon Mr. Schwartz was making frequent calls at the Betzold home. Although the engagement was never formally announced it was understood by friends that a marriage would soon take place. This is the second marriage in the Betzold family within a year. Last May Elmer Betzold was married to Miss Frannie [Frances] Utechtt. The wedding has a host of friends in the city who were surprised when they heard of the marriage yesterday. She is well liked and comes from a well known and respected family of the city. The groom is an industrious young man and is a brass polisher at the Nelson plant in LeClaire, where he has been employed for sometime. He is the son of Harry Schwartz, the well known tailor in this city. The couple will reside in Edwardsville and intended to begin housekeeping in the near future.

Announce Engagement
Miss Celeste Mashek announced her engagement to Luther Thomas of Hot Springs, SD at a party given by her sister[-in-law], Miss [Mrs.] Lillian Mashek on Wednesday evening. Favors were miniature wardrobe trunks with the printed announcement. Out of town guests were present from East St Louis, Venice and Granite City.

Miss Celeste Mashek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mashek, and Luther M. Thomas, son of Mrs. Minnie Thomas, were married on Wednesday [June 30] afternoon at the First Presbyterian church by Rev. Paul Stumpf. Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Holten. Melvin Kessinger sang, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Loretta Collins. The young couple will reside in Brookings, SD.

WEEKS - POPE
The marriage of Mr. H. E. Weeks, of Upper Alton, and Miss Lutie Pope, of Kane, is announced to take place at the home of the bride in Kane, June 27. The groom is a young man well known in this city and his own town, and is popular and liked by all who know him. The bride is a handsome young lady who formerly attended Shurtleff College and has many friends here.
