Married in this city, April 19, at the residence fo Mayor J. C. Townsend, by Rev. Wm. Tracy, E. L. Buchanan, druggist of Lacon and Miss Cornelia E. Townsend.
A ripple of the sea of social life was perceptible when the news was communicated on Thursday evening, that at the residence of Mayor Townsend, a quiet wedding had taken place, the contracting parties being Mr. Elbridge L. Buchanan, one of Lacon's affable and popular druggists, and Miss Cornelia A. Townsend, the mayor's only unmarried daughter, and one of our city's most prominent and highly respected society ladies. Rev. Wm. Tracy, now of Granville, came on the evening train to perform the ceremony. Only a half dozen or so were honored with the privilege to witness this sublime betrothment in which the vows of conjugal attachment were publicly expressed, "to last as long as we both shall live," and these were very intimate friends. Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan left the next morning for their home at Lacon, taking private rooms, but boarding at the Taggart House. The best wishes of a host of friends attend their bon voyage on life's sea, that it may be calm, serene, and prosperous, abounding in all that contributes to a useful and successful life.?
Lacon - The important recent event was the marriage of Miss Pet Townsend of Henry to E. L. Buchanan of this city. It was a surprise to many. We predict a bright future for this couple. Bridge is one of our finest, most energetic and business young men; his wife will receive a hearty welcome among us and continue to attract the praise and esteem of all she meets.

Hennepin - While at Wenona last week we attended the wedding of Wm. Pitt Cowen, book keeper in the Wenona bank of Peter Howe & Sons and Miss Catalena E. Ludington all of Wenona. The happy pair went on the evening trail to Chicago and Milwaukee for a few days tour, to return to business and housekeeping at once. At the depot they were serenaded by the Wenona band of 10 instruments, who made not only good music but made a good appearance as well.

Whitefield Wedding
A quiet wedding was celebrated at the residence of Homer Thompson in Whitefield on New Year's night, at which James Divelbiss and Mr. Thompson's daughter Eliza, were chief actors. Rev. A. J. Riason was found to be an important factor and he sealed their happiness in the performance of the marriage rite. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson provided a wedding feast for the invited guest and all went as "merry as a marriage bell. A number of excellent presents was the wedding portion. Mr. and Mrs. Divelbiss, thus one in mind and purpose, have our warmest congratulations and sincere wish for a happy life, career, attendant with ample returns of material prosperity.

Married at Lincoln, May 30, at the residence of the bride's brother-in-law, Isaac G. Vail, by Rev. J. M. Hubbert, A. V. Goltra, contractor and builder of this city and Miss Mary Wilson.
Mr. A. V. Goltra, the contractor and builder of this city, returned from Lincoln, this state last week, accompanied by a bride, a Miss Mary Wilson of that city. The wedding was given by Mr. Isaac G. Vail, a brother-in-law, where collected a very pleasant company to launch cupid's victims of the capricious and captivating sea of matrimonial life. A wedding feast was prepared and enjoyed and the long list of presents betokened the esteem in which the bride and groom were held. We welcome this union with hearty congratulations and best wishes that the bon voyage may ever by buoyant, calm and prosperous.

A Wedding Reception
On the 5th of last February, William Harrington of Whitefield and Miss Mary Morris of Wenona were united in marriage, but owing to the season of Lent then at hand, the wedding festivities were postponed until March 26th, when a large concourse of friends assembled at the residence of James Harrington of Whitefield township, the father of the groom, and enjoyed themselves immensely. William is one of the substantial young farmers of Whitefield and is possessed of excellent judgment and is well worthy of the partner of his choice.

Married at Palmyra, Mo., May 22, at the M. K. parsonage, by Rev. W. A. Tarwater, Wilbur Clark Hill and Miss Ada Stinger, both of Whitefield Township.
Wilbur Hill and Miss Ada Singer, both of Whitefield, boarded the cars the other day, stepped over the boundary of the prairie state into Missouri and were married. On their return home the youthful bride and groom were warmly congratulated by their friends and at the residence of Father Smith P. Hill in this city a reception was held on Thursday evening last in honor of the event. A very joyous company were present. The groom was awarded $100 by his father as a wedding gift and a large number of fine presents were the bridal portion.

Mr. Emanuel Schrock and Miss Sada, daughter of Duncan Campbell, Esq., were married last week Thursday morning at the family residence at 8 o'clock and took the 9:45 train for their future home at Flanagan, Livingston County, where Mr. Schrock has a new house just completed and furnished for his new and lovely bride. The nuptial was private but few persons being present to witness the tying of the knot which made them one, which was performed by Rev. W. J. Minium. Mr. Schrock, an old friend of ours, is a gentleman in every sense of the word, a capable mechanic and worthy of the lovely bride he has chosen to share with him the trials and pleasures of this mundane sphere. We join in the congratulations and best wishes for a congenial life, which is ordered them by a host of friends.
