MASON CITY - Daniel Edward Ainsworth, 74, of S. Atlantic St., New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Mason City, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach.

Born April 30, 1927, in Chicago to W. Howard and Mildred Chesnut Ainsworth he married Mary White. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Darrel of Washington, Ill., and Nick of Mason City; one daughter, Candy Ogden of Mason City; three grandchildren; and one sister, Josephine Albrecht of Crete, Neb.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

He was a retired automobile title clerk for the State of Illinois.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Illinois High School Basketball Hall of Fame in Bloomington.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Mason City.

Cremation will be accorded by Alavon Direct Cremation Service in South Daytona, Fla. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mason City Cemetery. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of local arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Mason City Area Nursing Home.
